As an organization, ProHealth has made a strong commitment to clinical quality, through measuring quality care metrics reporting efforts. And while plenty of clinical information was being reported to public sources, the ProHealth physicians and participation in several voluntary – the people most in control of patient care quality – didn’t have a good way to access their own performance data.
Omni worked with ProHealth to develop the Physician Profile report, a business intelligence tool that pulled data from ProHealth’s data warehouse and other reporting sources. For example, national quality measures for surgical care include benchmarks such as: “Patients given antibiotics within one hour before surgery,” and “Catheters removed on first or second day after surgery.” ProHealth collects data and reports on these and other care metrics.
Now, with the Physician Profile tool, doctors can view quality benchmarks specific to their own patients. The easy-to-read reports indicate whether patient care met basic thresholds, targeted goal measures or stretch goals.
Doctors also have the ability to click-through the interactive reporting tool to drill down to the individual patient level. This allows them to pinpoint where care fell below identified goals and gain some insight into which patients need to be followed up with and provide future insight into what might have affected care delivery.
"When you look at health care data, you typically get the end results. But that doesn't help you understand what you need to perform better. This tool provides that behind-the-scenes view and sets the stage for improved patient outcomes."
In all, Bessler is pleased with the talent and thought-leadership Omni brought to the table.
"We’ve also found Omni leadership to be approachable and responsive. The sales and leadership team stay engaged in understanding what our needs are, and are proactive about having the right people to assist. Plus, they were flexible with how we approached our statements of work, so we could keep some of their professionals involved on a part-time basis after the initial development work was done. That was also greatly appreciated. They honored good rates for future work and continue to keep expenses down.”
